Premium extruder HELICAL for the best energy efficiency

Komax offers the HELICAL extruder family to all customers who are looking for maximum efficiency with significant energy savings and incredible production outputs, high technological content and the excellent quality of materials.

This technology has been developed by Komax for more than the last 10 years, to provide a higher material flow than versions with smooth cylinders and those with straight grooves with the same diameter.

Thanks to this significant increase in production output, we have been able to achieve several records in the form of energy saving.

The development of the extruder, in terms of the design of the screw and the cylinder, has been continuous and has allowed us to confirm this technology for the processing of the most commonly requested thermoplastic compounds present on the market such as PVC, PE (HDPE, MDPE, LDPE), PP, PU, PA, TPV… also including flame retardants such as HFFR and LSOH.

HELICAL model extruders are characterized by a helical groove along the entire length of the barrel.

Which applications are available for Komax HELICAL premium extruders?

A HELICAL extruder can be used as the main machine of the line (U or P version) and as an auxiliary machine (C version), in order to apply an additional layer of material (insulation, skin) or a stripe, working in co-extrusion with another machine.

KOMAX and DEXSEN provide a wide range of HELICAL extruders so that even the most complex application can find an efficient solution.
Diameters range from 30 mm to 120 mm, with a barrel length of 30D or 40D.

HELICAL extruder outputs

The production of HELICAL extruders varies according to the model chosen and the materials in question.

The technical developments combined with the considerable experience of the KOMAX and DEXSEN teams can guarantee production outputs ranging from 50 kg/h for PVC with a motor power of only 7 kW to more than 1,300 kg/h for HDPE with a 300 kW motor.

Extrusion screws for HELICAL premium extruders

The considerable investments made in research and development have provided profiles suitable for various materials to be extruded.

They are made of ground, nitrided steel.

The KOMAX and DEXSEN screws guarantee the highest production outputs as well as excellent mixing and plasticizing quality.

Barrels for HELICAL premium extruders

They are engineered and produced to ensure a useful combination with extrusion screws and excellent thermoregulation.

They are made of nitrided steel to guarantee a long life.

A helical groove runs the entire length of the barrel, providing an excellent distribution of the operating pressures, for an excellent final quality of the product, even in the presence of rigid PVC.

Motors and drives

All KOMAX and DEXSEN extruders are equipped with high energy efficiency gearboxes and motors, to guarantee a low energy consumption for our customers.

The use of the latest generation of Siemens and Lenze drives complete the combination for the control and management of speed and torque on the extrusion screw, further reducing consumption.

Electrical and control equipment

All models are completed with electrical equipment produced in-house by KOMAX to ensure the maximum guarantee of quality and service to customers.

  • The KOMAX and DEXSEN programs are based on the most recent Siemens protocols and they allow quick installation of the machines, even on existing lines
  • A rich exchange of information with the plant network ensures that our extruders are in accordance with Industry 4.0
  • Easy use of the machine is guaranteed by a large and intuitive 12” and 15” touch screen, which is capable of displaying production process graphics in real time.
  • Versions with thermo-regulators and potentiometers on board the machine are available on request.
